Description:
SWEET ESCAPE – This excellent 130’American-built Christensen motor yacht from 1993 just got an extensive refit in 2017. The owner is an interior designer; the soft furnishing choices are her. Not minimalist in style but art deco instead, she uses lots of color – plus silver objects d’art, gorgeous tan and white throws, trapezoid and round shapes.
Available in the Eastern Caribbean through mid February 2020, the yacht will return to the Bahamas and charter from Nassau through the summer and fall months. She charters for $99,000 weekly + 30% APA + 4% Bahamian tax, and Christmas and New Year’s weeks are at $125,000 a week.
A band of stewardesses greet you on aft deck with offerings of infused water, juice, or coffee. There’s a gorgeously set dining table with sea glass, a sea theme, ready for lunch. The owner gave the crew lots of place settings. The crew of 8 – four boys, four girls- wears turquoise and black uniforms. There’s a player piano in the saloon; the owner’s daughters plays the guitar; their friends play the guitar; and they sing. The formal dining table was set with a table scape of branches; one of the walls in the dining saloon is a wine wall, and the chef participated in the culinary competition (Antigua 2019 charter yacht show).
Forward of the main saloon – is the guest entrance, day head and galley.
Upper Master plus lower Master Cabins make the yacht ideal for two couples, but the yacht has six staterooms total for parties of 12. Because the VIP King cabin below is considerably larger than the twin cabins, the yacht could be considered suitable for three couples as well, each utilizing the three superior cabins aboard.
Upper Master is gorgeous with textures everywhere – on the walls and in the soft carpeting. Bidet, heated seats, marble and quartz….
Second master on the lower deck is the main bedroom with king bed with silver and black furs – his and her bathrooms plus wardrobe and tub. Lots of crystals and lamps for good luck.
Each cabin is slightly different – The VIP is superior to the two Twin cabins and was presented in turn-down mode (night time mode) as the crew make up the cabins twice a day; the two twins convert to king beds on request. The sixth cabin is hard to find on the accommodation plan; converted from the gym, it’s just a bunk bed cabin to be utilized by children or staff.
Because the owner is Bahamian and because three James Bond films were filmed in the Bahamas, one of which was named the Thunderbolt Grotto after the cave in the Bahams, the sky lounge aboard Sweet Escape has a James Bond theme. It features 007 gun lamps, and the crew threw a 007-themed party for brokers at the Antigua 2019 yacht hop. The sky lounge has a bar with stools for guests to gather around in the evenings.
Upper Aft Deck – Enormous with varnished dining table and seating aft, the crew proudly throw three theme parties a week for their guests, who love. The upper aft deck is where the crew usually throw them, and they often serve breakfast here. It’s private from the dock.
Chef – Angie is the chef – great stainless steel galley – it’s like a home; Angie encourages guests to come in; she’s super friendly. Guests are given a crew profile for their cabins, so they can memorize the name of the crew, as there are 8 of them. Not big on single use plastic, the crew use jugs of water and refill glasses…. Bernard Coetzer is the captain who hails from South Africa.
Amazing art collection
Sun Deck – Gorgeous! Bar with stools – three sitting areas – curved seating; Jacuzzi. Angie throws BBQs up here. Two tenders, one with three 300 hp outboards used for fishing are stowed up here when making long passages.
Portuguese port seating – on bow; imagine the Tobago Cays!
Dive Instructor aboard – Haley the deck hand/stewardess is a dive instructor and the yacht carries compressor, and tanks for guests use. The yacht has every water sports toy imaginable. The crew are big on sports.
Generous with gifts.
