Description:

AD ASTRA offers spacious accommodations aboard a 57′ Soterion sailing catamaran, based in Tortola with captain only, so guests act as crew, for $12,100 a week inclusive except for food for 1-6 guests.  Please inquire for parties of eight. There are four private guest cabins excluding the saloon and crew quarters.  “It’s a fair price,” says the owner; “For fully provisioned, fully crewed charters, you’d be paying at least $17,000 a week inclusive.”

  • The yacht is available with an experienced captain, who will teach guests how to sail and help with the sailing; the captain will tell you what to do to lend a hand.  Guests are expected to lend a hand.  I see helping with the sailing a plus for guests interested in helping with the sailing.
  • The yacht is a terrific sailing vessel available with captain only, so guests act as crew and do their own cooking.  The price includes fuel (the yacht will sail everywhere), dockage (the yacht will anchor out – marina fees are not included); guests do their own cooking and cleaning, but also, there are beach bars everywhere in the BVI, so you need not do any cooking at all!
  • ADASTRA is set up to be as off-grid as possible.  The yacht has 5 air conditioning units that run off solar panels, so you don’t need to burn generator fuel all night to run the AC, and there is a water maker and generator aboard for plenty of hot showers.

The yacht has 3 Queen bed cabins, each with private bathroom, plus one bunk bed cabin for families of eight, available on request. She is most comfortable for six adults, but families of eight can be taken and still nobody need sleep in the saloon, cockpit or bow, which are common areas…

ADASTRA carries beach toys, snorkeling gear, subwing, kayak and paddleboards, plus float toys, and if guests are certified divers, the yacht has 8 full sets of dive gear aboard, but guests must be certified divers and be experienced divers.  Guests dive on their own.

We haven’t met the captain of ADASTRA yet.  The owner requests the right to place an experienced and knowledgeable captain aboard, familiar with the Virgin Islands; the captain will teach sailing and need a hand sailing the boat….

ADASTRA offers a great opportunity for guests to see the British and American Virgin Islands at a low rate aboard a spacious 57′ catamaran yacht, offering indoor outdoor living. The cockpit and main saloon are on the same level, and the yacht is easy to sail.

The yacht sails from Tortola, year round (except August & September).  Summer 2023 the yacht will charter for a time in the Grenadine Islands, Southern Caribbean, out of St. Vincent.

  • Weekly plus expenses Rate, 2023:
  • $12,100 for 2-6 guests
  • Rate includes fuel & dockage & “basics”.  Food & gratuity are extra.  Sails from Tortola.
  • Captain Only Rates:
    Ad Astra is Captain Only and BVI cruising area.Captain Only Includes:
    Captain, yacht, and two sets of linens for each cabin are included, 12 bath towels, 12 hand towels, and 12 fast-drying Turkish beach towels. Toys, a fully equipped galley, basic cooking seasoning (see detailed description on menu), dish soap, one bag of ice, and water.
    NOT INCLUDED:
    Travel expenses. Airport-boat-Airport transport. Diesel use, dockage, land excursions, and any expenses taken ashore. Yacht provisions. Crew tip.Additional Rate Details:
    MINIMUM NIGHTS: 5
    For 6 night charters, divide the weekly rate by seven nights X 6 nights. For 5 nights or less, divide weekly rate by 6 nights X number of nights. Please confirm with the clearinghouse for less than 5 nights.
    SLEEP ABOARD:
    Sleep aboard the night before charter dates. Available for $1,200 per night.
    CHRISTMAS/NEW YEARS:
    7 night minimum
    Christmas: $14,200 and must end by 12/26
    New Year’s: $14,500 and may not start before 12/27
