Description:
The 147′ Tough Brothers, Uk-built, classic motor yacht, ATLANTIC GOOSE, is a perfect example of how an “old yacht from 1987” can still be relevant today. Based in Palma, Mallorca, Spain but willing to move to France, Greece, Croatia and Southern Italy, the yacht is elegant! The china, crystal, sparkling fixtures, and choice of fabrics are what make the yacht stand out…. My notes are full of comments like “Beautiful!” as I wandered from room to room….
The owners of ATLANTIC GOOSE have owned this yacht for 28 years and love her. Spending three months a year in the yard, upgrades are constant and ongoing. New teak decks and a new fridge for the galley were given during the winter of 2017. The tenders on the aft deck were rebuilt, and the superstructure was painted as well. With a fuel consumption of just 140 liters of diesel per hour, cruising at ten knots, the owners use the vessel as a country cottage, as they cruise from France to Italy to Croatia and Greece, where they charter each year. The yacht has lots of availabilities, although the visitor’s book is full of references on the crew, and there is indeed a reference below on the crew that is recent. The yacht is ideal for families.
ATLANTIC GOOSE accommodates ten guests in five staterooms. The master cabin is located forward on the main deck and is the full beam of the vessel with King-size bed, large office, wide hallways and foyer. His and her bathrooms feature a tub… There is a second, full beam, VIP King cabin below, plus two guest Queen cabins, which are sizeable, plus one Twin stateroom – all of them beautifully appointed with many fine fabrics, details and maple panelling….. The yacht is fully fitted for WiFi, complete with VSat communication and 4G capabilities…..
The saloon is located on the upper deck. Tenders are stored below on the main deck…. This gives guests privacy and maximizes pleasure as the crew are able to work out of the sight of guests. ATLANTIC GOOSE’s upper saloon is all in white with a bar with wood swivel chairs, day head, and service pantry. Stairs lead below to the main deck with interior dining room with round, beautifully set dining table with arm chairs. A ladder leads to a sun deck with eight chaise lounges on fiberglass decks, stanchions shade, music, and blue and white upholstery.
David Purcell from the UK is the main captain of ATLANTIC GOOSE, but Jim Bulman rotates with him when David needs time ashore… The chef and engineers are also on a rotating system…. This ensures a relaxed and ready crew, who are fresh and ready to go on charters. David is assisted by nine crew. David has lived in Spain for twenty years, and one of the salient things about ATLANTIC GOOSE’s crew is how familiar and experienced they are chartering in France, Italy, Croatia, and Greece. Historically they have based in Montenegro and Croatia; they tell me that Croatia north of Split is “wine country,” while the cruise from Corfu to Lipara (Southern Italy) is one of their favorites. So they are especially familiar with all the Mediterranean cruising grounds and Greece – but this year and next (2017 & 2018) they are moving to France for a change….. With British owner and British crew, this yacht is known for serving special English teas, complete with all manner of beautiful cakes on gorgeous china.
ATLANTIC GOOSE’s pilot house has modern radar and transatlantic commercial chart plotters….
Sports equipment includes the yacht’s recently rebuilt tender plus a Novurania jet tender, jet skiis, two seabobs, two stand up paddle boards, waterskis, wakeboard, snorkel gear, all on the lower deck, all away from guests… Living quarters on the upper deck leaves guests free to pursue leisurely activities, while the crew handle the work from the main deck. I love this vessel and give her an A++++!
Recent feedback from guests: “Atlantic Goose, she is a gem! We have loved every minute on her. The proud nature in which she sits shows just how well looked after she is, and respected. The Atlantic Goose crew were a big part of our amazing stay, lead exceptionally well by Captain David. The team are brilliant and extremely professional. I will actually miss their friendly and kind faces. The girls were the best team. A shout out goes to Lydia for those few funny nights on the late ‘babysitting’ shift!! We hope to see the crew again next year. At this stage, I wouldn’t consider any other vessel. We wish you all safe onward travels.”
