Description:
AUGUST MAVERICK – For mono hull enthusiasts, this 92’ pilot house cutter, built in 1978 is a work a progress. Owned and operated by young Americans Sean and Jackie, the vessel is halfway through a refit, and when the refit is finished, she is going to be beautiful! Sean is a certified shipwright; it is he who is doing all the woodwork onboard, cutting and measuring all the cabinetry, and today in its present condition, you can see what work has been done and what work has not been done. She is available for charter year round from St.Thomas for $21,000 to $26,000 a week all inclusive for parties of two to eight; rates slide according to number in party. Rates for Christmas are $28,000 weekly and for New Year’s week $30,000 weekly. The yacht is flexible to sail anywhere in the Eastern Caribbean. They will go down island for charters. She is available in New England for summer 2020; Portland, Maine is where they will base to Newport, Rhode Island. They are flexible.
Custom built in 1978 in California, the vessels’ big flares bow handles all sea conditions well. Sean and Jackie sail her under genoa, main sail and staysail, and her 92 feet lends lots of deck space.
Crew of Two – Owner operators Sean and Jackie are a young fun talented couple, dressed in grey uniforms. When we inspected the vessel in St. Thomas in November, 2019, Jackie welcomed us with hors d’oeurves of pineapple, coconut, gazpacho with ginger on top, and bacon olive tapenade. She also gave us appetizers of strawberry gruyere skewers. Sean’s training as a shipwright comes from making surfboards and paddleboards of the finest variety.
Aft deck has five green little Styrofoam chairs plus swimming ladder. The pilot cockpit with drinks holders is large and spacious and covered by a hard top, under which is a U-shaped settee around the aft end of the space with two tables. Out of door dining is offered.
Main Saloon – The full beam of the ship, August Maverick’s deck house saloon with dining table to starboard and lounge to port has a bar forward. The dining table lowers to form a double bed. It has television, DVD player, and tons of movies. Sean is presently working on a database of movies to download. The crew quarters and galley are forward of the saloon; guests sleep aft.
Sleeps 8 guests in 3 cabins – If families of ten are accommodated, extra guests can sleep in the main saloon. Working our way aft from the saloon, there’s a twin cabin in beautiful wengi wood with Pullman; it adjoins a bathroom with two doors. There’s another mirror image twin with Pullman down the hall, with bathroom with tub, and lots of headroom. The full beam master stateroom has a centerline King that ‘floats.’ There is indirect lighting hidden under the bed. A light and airy cabin, the walls are painted white, offset by blue walls and matching throws; it has a television, and Bluetooth speakers, lots of storage, two closets and his and her bathrooms, joined by a shower. The yacht is fully air conditioned.
Sports gear: 4 stand up paddle boards, waterskis, kneeboard, wakeboard, 14’ tender with 50 hp outboard with pole for waterskiing; snorkel gear
