Description:
DOLPHIN SPLASH – Coming to us from the 76′ catamaran Akasha, where Andrew was the first mate and Peron was the chef, and now embarking on their fourth charter season as a team, young Andrew Pitts, Australian/ British captain aboard the excellent 44′ catamaran DOLPHIN SPLASH and first mate Peron give Super yacht service at affordable prices. Explaining proudly that because Peron is a pure chef – that is, she was hired because she can cook – she was hired, because she ran her own restaurant – “for instance, we serve goose” – they do have to charge a little more than other yachts their size to give Peron the budget she needs to work with.
“But the three guest cabins and bathrooms aboard the yacht are beautiful,” says Andrew, “and the yacht is run professionally; it is a well-endowed business; meaning that everything the yacht earns goes back into the yacht, so guests benefit. The powerful watermaker runs off the generator. New weather curtains in the cockpit are clean and fresh; new curtains in the saloon are made of black out fabric, which keeps the sun and heat out. All the linen is new this year,100% Egyptian cotton. Guests love to wear the new Turkish towels around them, while lounging in the sun. The crew have day and evening uniforms with ships logo. The result is we have five repeat charters returning from last year and two new charters in the midst of signing up.” Andrew calls his guests on WhatsApp before they arrive.
Coming from the 76′ catamaran AKASHA, they are offering silver service – the food and beverage budget is larger for it, but Andrew says, “You can craft a sailor, but you can’t craft a chef. Peron ran her own restaurant, but it was she on her own initiative who went to qualify as a sailor. So I can rely on her. She is a good sailor too.” When I commented that a good sailor often means being agile and thinking quickly, Andrew, an avid photographer, who takes crazy photographs for guests with his GoPro 7 Drone laughed and said, “Like the time I lost control of my drone and down it came, but just before hitting the deck, Peron reached out and grabbed it, saving the day?”
The two aft cabins are for guests and the third stateroom is forward. The crew use the forward port cabin. The fly bridge has couch and sun mattresses. They have a good swimming ladder.
• Guided Snorkeling Inc. NIGHT SNORKELING! (with explanations on fish behavior for the marine biology enthusiasts)
• Chef Pevon offers cooking/baking workshops for kids… or adults if requested????.
• Chef Pevon personally sources all our produce, ensuring premium quality. (no provisioning companies)
• Capt. Andrew involves and teaches guests how to sail and will issue certificates for mile builders.
• Turn down service. We close curtains, turn on bed side lights and pre-chill our cabins before our guests retire for the evening.
• ‘The Baths’ to yourself. Capt. Andy gets up at 5.30am and moves the boat to Virgin Gorda. We are first in at sunrise to experience this walk by ourselves, getting unspoilt photos and avoiding the crowds.
SCUBA – Scuba gear has just been placed on board, and captain ANDREW is a dive Master and loves scuba diving. Diving is for Certified Divers Only. Two free dives per person are included in the price, $50 per person for each dive thereafter. “A total of 5 dives is what we wish to keep it at, because scuba diving impacts the crews service to all guests”. Guests cannot scuba dive by themselves.
A story from Andrew: “We got a new board game last year; it’s called Catan, guests brought it, but we got addicted to playing it; the only problem is it needs three to play.”
Sailing year round from St. Thomas, DOLPHIN SPLASH charters for $14,800 to $17,050 weekly all inclusive for two to six guests (rates slide according to number in party), except $18,950 weekly for Christmas and $19,500 weekly for New Year’s week.
