Description:

GIOE I – The friendly natural crew of five aboard this 100’ Tecnomar motor yacht, built in 2009, despite being all male, make you feel at home. They were ready for our arrival in the newly upholstered main saloon, now with tan leather settees facing a smart TV, with a groaning board of hors d’oeurvres – pineapple canapes, individually decorated cupcakes, “candy sweet” with honey, all homemade.  There was a hedgehog of blue cheese, cakes and pastries on the dining table forward of the contemporary saloon, which has Japanese zen-like screens, brown bamboos, wicker, and handsome dark wood floors.  The minimalist bar with chic lines is made out of wood from Africa.  The saloon gives way to an aft deck with out of door dining, and below that there is a ‘garage,’ whose door folds down out of the stern to rest just above the water, large enough to hold three chairs, acting as a dock to service the tender, or to take a dip in the sea.

GIOE carries lots of sports equipment, stowed in there – jet ski, tender, canoe, and sofa inflatable that is pulled behind the tender, giving guests a fun ride.  Lively JR, the sailor, showed me around, explaining, “Our philosophy is to work hard for our guests, to see to their comfort, to make sure their needs are met, to answer any questions they might have about what to do ashore.”

GIOE accommodates twelve guests in five staterooms, all located below on the accommodation deck:  a full beam master King cabin, two VIP queen cabins, and two twin cabins, each with lower singles plus upper foldaway Pullman, available only when families of 12 are aboard.  The fly bridge on GIOE is outstanding – large sunbathing mattress fits everybody, U-shaped lounge/settee, dining table for lunch and cakes, all covered by a hard top bimini for shade at sea.

Sailing from Athens, GIOE charters for EUR 45,000 weekly during July and August and EUR 40,000 weekly during May, June, September and October.  12’% VAT is not included, nor is food, fuel, bar, or dockage.  These items run about 30% of the charter fee.  It is customary to wire an Advance Provisioning Allowance to the captain one month in advance.  Accounts are kept and settled before disembarkation.  It is customary to tip the crew. 10% to 15% of the charter fee is suggested.
