Description:

The stand apart feature aboard the 45′ Lagoon catamaran KNOT 5280, built in 2016 is her shade-bearing fly bridge with bench settee and sun beds, which provides sun protection for the helmsman and his guests.  This is a unique and much appreciated feature, not often found aboard 45′ catamarans, as the Caribbean sun is blazing hot, burning the skin easily.  Not only does it have shade, it has a thick-cushioned sofa, plus additional sun beds forward, making it a nice place to accompany Captain Joe, raconteur, while he sails the yacht around the Caribbean.  Or you can venture there with a book at anchor for some quiet time or watch the sun go down.  Or sunbathe at sea.  The views there are stunning.

American owner-operators Joe and Holly Sigdestad are from Denver, the mile high city.  This is their first full season chartering in the Virgin Islands but last year they did 11 weeks of charter.  Joe worked in sales.  He loves people and conversation.  Holly raised two children and is not culinary trained but bakes everything fresh from scratch and prefers not to do vegan.  They enjoy taking families and couples.  The yacht has three equal Queen cabins.  Two mirror image hulls have two cabins aft, two cabins forward; the crew take the aft port cabin. Holly does turn-down service.  The yacht accommodates six guests.  Three guest bathrooms have stall showers.

The saloon is modern and tastefully decorated with windows all about. The cockpit is on the same level as the saloon, making for easy indoor/outdoor living.  The galley is one side of the saloon; sitting area on the other.  Dining is in the aft cockpit usually, although the saloon has a dining table as well.  Gone is the ladder, found on monohulls, where the saloon is inside the ship and the cockpit on deck, and you have to take a ladder between the two.  This is why there are so many catamarans in the Virgin Islands now.  It’s easier for the crew to slip through a sliding glass door rather than juggle a tray up a steep ladder, as on monohull vessels….

Joe and Holly taught their children to sail when they were two to four years old.  They are patient sailing instructors, and the yacht has nets between the pontoons forward, safe for children.  As long as children can swim, they are happy to take them.  KNOT 5280 is one of the few charter yachts that has an asymmetrical spinnaker.  Joe and Holly love sailing and love teaching.

SLEEP ABOARD Sleep aboard the night before charter dates. Available for $1,200. Includes boarding after 4pm, snacks, welcome cocktails & continental breakfast. Dinner ashore is additional. EXCLUDES: Christmas and New Year’s weeks.

HALF-BOARD OPTION: Includes all breakfasts, 4 lunches and 3 dinners, standard ships bar, snacks, canapes, all other meals ashore at client expense.
