Description:
LOLALITA – 65’ Privilege catamaran built in 1996, but refitted in 2019 – no fly bridge; performance sailing…. Available from Tortola during winter and down island during summer (July 22-mid October, 2020), she charters for $27,000 to $31,000 weekly all inclusive for two to eight guests (rates slide according to number in party) except $38,000 weekly inclusive for Christmas and/or New Year’s. Based in Tortola, LOLALITA will pick up guests in St. Thomas for $400 (or drop them off there – or both for $800), or she will move to St. Maarten for charters for $1,000 + local taxes. From July 22-mid October, 2020, the yacht will be based down island for charters….Antigua, Martinique, St. Lucia, Grenada and the Grenadines. Captain Gio knows the area well.
Saloon – Two cocktail lounges, steps, navigation station, highly varnished teak and holly cabin sole; a guitar hangs from the stained oak walls, and large windows in the coach roof; Baskets of fruit and flower arrangements.
Crew of 3 – Pretty, peppy, polite crew look you square in the eye and answer your questions. Giovanni (Gio) is the captain from England; his dad is Italian, aboard three years since the new owner took over. All the crew are dressed in blue and white uniform; Raven the stewardess is tall, pretty and thin; Ryan is the chef in an apron; Gio and Ryan both play acoustic and electric guitar. Encountering a calm off the coast of Jamaica, Gio told us he cranked the speakers up full blast and played guitar to his heart’s content. Although shy, he will play for guests if guests sing.
Big on Diving – Gio has a music system that lowers into the water so you can hear music playing under the water; dolphins and whales come. Gio wrote his thesis on underwater acoustics; they play DeBussy and the theme from Jaws…. It has a microphone as well, says Raven, “Lunch is ready,” At night the yacht has underwater lighting, a natural color light; which attract the fish; they put those on and play the music, and they watch the fish and dive at night. Their new compressor fills four tanks an hour; they have eight tanks; they take eight divers out twice a day, if guests want; they offer night diving; must bring flash lights or rent or just sit under the boat; rent BCs and regulators for $200 or bring own. Tank refills are included in the fee. They offer the Resort Course; Gio is a dive instructor; happy to run Open Water 1 courses and certify guests if the whole group participates; do the theory at home first or do it aboard (better to study the theory at home first, which you do by contacting a dive shop in your area….)
Ryan the chef – Tall with a bun on the top of his head, he participated in the broker lunches; brokers enjoyed their lunch onboard during the show. There were offerings of hors d’oeurves when I was aboard… The three crew work as a great team.
2018 Refit – Newly Refitted – The yacht is newly refitted after Irma; she is just back. Looking forward to getting back into chartering; the owner spent half a million dollars on the refit since Hurricane Irma 2 years ago; Gio stayed throughout the entire refit; loyal, he set a goal and stayed with it.
Stepping up media – They now have a drone, and the crew make videos for guests; active on Facebook and Instagram.
Sleeps 8 guests in 4 staterooms – Master bedroom on main deck level with King bed, breakfast tray and lotus flower on stack of white towels. Three additional Queen staterooms with beds against wall, vanity, and private bathroom. Lots of AC, reading lights; in-room basin, television with streaming and DVD in each cabin. Crew self-contained; nobody need sleep in the saloon….
