Description:
UNBRIDLED – The 116’ Crescent motor yacht UNBRIDLED is a fun boat! By that, I mean Captain Clifford Marlow is a fun person. Here is how he showed me the boat in December, 2019 in Antigua, an outline of our conversation: you draw your own conclusions: The first thing he said is, “Chef Julian has been aboard for a long time. Before that he was on another yacht with me; we’re a good team.”
Showing me the bar with stools on the sun deck first, where a beautifully decorated dining table was set, he said, “Elena is our new chief stewardess. She’s competing in the Table Scape competition. She’s artistic. She studied art and loves decorating tables.” This table was particularly beautiful with an array of local Caribbean flora: cactus, succulents, leafs and yuccas. Using each in a subtle way, Elena had thought to bring the countryside in to the table. It was beautiful and personal….
Moving past the Jacuzzi, large enough to hold eight, we passed the TRX free weights and the BBQ, where Chef Julian puts a nice flavor on lobster and all manner of good things to eat, we arrived at the boat deck. “We have a 32’ Boston Whaler with fishing equipment.” A captain with all the licenses and credentials, Clifford, it should be mentioned, is an avid fisherman. Growing up in South Africa, he learned shore side and deep sea fishing from his father, an avid angler. The Caribbean and Bahamas offer world class deep sea fishing.
“We also have two scuba instructors aboard,” he said. “One trains; the other takes certified divers around.” He showed me the sunbathing option on the bow. “The back section lifts up to a 45 degree angle, and we put up a sailing awning; guests love it!”
The yacht sleeps eight guests in four staterooms. The VIP Queen cabin is forward on the main deck; the full beam master King is below, along with the twin and the Queen.
Available in St. Thomas during the winter and the Bahamas (Nassau) during the summer, Clifford knows both areas well, but of the Bahamas he said: “The Exumas are my favorite, but I love the Abacos. We have a great crew; that’s our best asset.”
Coming into the saloon, which has a movie theatre forward, Clifford said, “Here we have Play Station and Xbox.” What is Xbox, I’m wondering as I look around the comfortable room in gray with dark mahogany paneling, leather buttoned seating. There’s a bar with stainless steel sink…..
UNBRIDLED will be in the Eastern Caribbean until April 2020, then she’ll move to the Turks and Caicos for mid May…and the Bahamas for the summer. She returns annually to the Virgin Islands every winter and charters for $60,000 a week for eight guests + 30% APA + 4% Bahamian tax + Gratuity. Christmas and New Year in the Caribbean is sold at a premium: $70,000 a week + expenses. She’s a fun boat.
